OFLC site hacked during ABC’s “Q and A” program

The official web site for the Office of Film and Literature Classification (www.oflc.gov.au / www.classification.gov.au) has been hacked tonight. A comment on the online board for ABC’s live “Q and A” show stated:

Ask conroy about govt classification website being hacked. Check now

Stephen Conroy is one of the guest panelists for the night.

On visiting the OFLC site it was revealed the text on the home page has been replaced with the following message:

Welcome to the Classification Website

This site contains information about the boards that have the right to CONTROL YOUR FREEDOMZ. The Classification Board has the right to not just classify content (the name is an ELABORATE TRICK), but also the right to DECIDE WHAT IS AND ISNT APPROPRIATE and BAN CONTENT FROM THE PUBLIC. We are part of an ELABORATE DECEPTION from CHINA to CONTROL AND SHEEPIFY the NATION, to PROTECT THE CHILDREN. All opposers must HATE CHILDREN, and therefore must be KILLED WITH A LARGE MELONS during the PROSECUTION PARTIES IN SEPTEMBER. Come join our ALIEN SPACE PARTY.

This prompted a number of questions from viewers, including:

Given that the Australian Classification Board website has just been hacked, and the recent leakings of the ACMA blacklist, what guarantee can you give the nation that your filter will not be hacked by parties wishing to control what can be viewed on the internet by Australians?

It will be interesting to see if there is any media coverage of this - or the show generally - tomorrow.
